Campaigns

Our campaigns allow us to focus attention on important topical subjects.

This section details the most recent campaigns we have run.

* Help for your hearing loss
New research has found that people who are fitted with a hearing aid early make greater use of their aid, are able to hear speech better and participate more in social activities. Deafness Research UK has produced a new booklet to help you recognise the early signs of hearing loss, and know what to do about it.

* Managing tinnitus
A Deafness Research UK study has shown that millions of patients suffering from tinnitus are being badly let down by the NHS. The research shows a disturbing lack of knowledge of the treatments that are available for this common and distressing condition. As a result of these findings, Deafness Research UK is campaigning to educate tinnitus sufferers and health professionals about the treatment options available.

* Helping your child through glue ear
Three quarters of a million children in the UK will suffer from temporary hearing loss as a result of glue ear this winter.Deafness Research UK, the UK's medical charity for deaf and hard of hearing people, is launching an offensive to help parents tackle glue ear through the winter months, when symptoms are often at their worst.

* Hearing aids: are you getting the best from the NHS?
New research has found that people between the ages of 50 and 65 who were fitted with hearing aids under a trial screening programme reported greater satisfaction with them than typical hearing aid recipients, who are on average around the age of 70, and have lived with declining hearing for several years.

Deafness Research UK has produced a new booklet to help you recognise the early signs of hearing loss, and know what to do about it.
